Emergency Shelter

The Nehemiah Mission has established a program and procedure for assisting homeless women (specifically victims of domestic abuse). While there are many agencies (specifically the Domestic Violence Center) that have established shelters, we recognize that there are emergency situations that may require temporary overnight accommodations. In response to that need we are prepared to offer temporary emergency shelter for a woman with her children for up to three nights.  During their stay, they can expect to have a clean, safe, comfortable house with food to prepare and sleeping arrangements in dormitory style rooms arranged for a woman with her children.

This service is available only by referral and with cooperation from clergy and/or local law enforcement.  In an emergency, please call 216-694-8587.

This program is in need of female volunteers willing to serve as overnight hosts for our guests. To register as a hostess please contact the mission director, Jim Szakacs – 216-961-6968 ext 10 or director@nehemiahmission.org.

The mission is also in need of contributions to help with the ongoing supply needs of food and toiletries for this program.

Please consider a special gift to the mission for our “Seeds of Hope” – Emergency Shelter.
